an eel? or a betta?
long shiny tail fish
Bettas have long tails, but they aren't shiny. There are types of tetras that are really shiny with long tails, but once again, the tails themselves aren't shiny. I don't think any freshwater fish has a shiny tail, so I'm guessing that it's a type of saltwater fish. Thinking back to marine biology class, I can't think of any fish with a shiny tail. So, my guess is that the fish you're asking about is not real.
the golden ram
Could you possibly be any more specific? Like, oh, I don't know, link us a picture of this mystery fish? Or give us an approximate size of the fish?

There are simply too many fish with "long shiny tails" to name. Give us more details, and you'll get your correct answer.
