Angel fish have laid eggs. help?

This is the third time they've laid eggs. The first time they got eaten (I suspect by the big plec). The second time we put 'em in the same tank but in a nursery net - they just went mouldy and died. Any suggestions for this batch?

Hi Stress-'e,
I've successfully bred two batches from my two angels. There's two things you need to remember when breeding.
1. What size filter are you using, remember the angel fry are so tiny and un-able to swim at first, the strengh of the filter may be sucking them in. I know when I cleaned out the fliter the first time they dissappered, I found them all ALIVE in the Fluval Fliter.
2. Baby Angel Fry will first of all feed off the egg sacks they were born in, then they instantly need feeding baby brine shimp 3 times a day, and dont forget to feed Mum and Dad, otherwise out of hunger the babies will be eaten instead. I have a 2 foot tank, and usually get about 50 babies pull through each time. Also give them some floating weed to hide in, but a must is - only ever have the Mum, Dad and babies in the tank - can't breed in a community tank, easy pickings for the other fish. Anyway let me know how you get on with it. All the Best, Mezz
Take the one suspected of eating the eggs the first time out of the way, if possible, and see what happens. Or create a divider between them in the tank, maybe?
separate the the eggs from the other fish and put in another tank check them regularly,if that doesn't work talk to a pet store or vet.
First time they probably were eaten by the Pleco. Second time, they were probably not fertilized yet or developed fungus which killed them. If you want your Angels to breed, make sure the eggs have been fertilized and put them in a "baby tank". Use distilled water in a very clean tank with plenty of aeration and an antibiotic, I think it's called methyilene blue?, but don't quote me on that. It's been a lot of years since I worked at a tropical fish store. For further info, go to your local pet store and check out some books on breeding.
our discus fish had the same problem but after a long time they realized they had to fertilize them and started to get better so just wait !!;)
No probs.fry with some bacon sausages and b/beans
we thinks ours done the same, we got them in a breeding box, in out bigs tanks, were all the outher fish cant get to them, as they will eats them , try and go on line , and look up angles fish or go to tropical shop , as they can help , gd luck
