New fish - An ichthyologist has described a new genus of tropical cardinal fishes from the South China Sea. The new species, which has been named Kurtamia bykhovskyi, is now the type species for the genus which is believed to be a sister group to the genus Archamia.

what a loaded question, yes there are many different species of fish, many different species of insects and I don't believe any new fish have been discovered.

Everything has a purpose in this world, though I'm still trying to figure out what the heck fleas and ticks purpose is other than irritating animals and costing me money. But anyway, there was a news article on yahoo last week, with picture slide show about new marine species just discovered, I think by Indonesia. Try doing a search.
