at what age does flowerhorn starts to lay eggs?
Answers:
Breeding Flowerhorns is not really recommended. Mostly this is because the rate of compatibility is so very low, you will injure a lot of fish waiting on a pair to form. When you put some fish together, injuries will occur until a pair is established. Fish will die in the process. Based on what they typically cost, this is unacceptable.
On top of that, because of the fractionation of the genetics of the Flowerhorn, your offspring could be AMAZING or DRAB. I don't see much in between.
Seldom do two nice Flowerhorns produce similar Flowerhorns. This is because of the dominant and recessive traits brought by the earlier generations (cross species) in the "making" of Flowerhorn
Many Flowerhorns are infertile and your going to have to grow the 500 or so fry out to about 3 inches.. killing the females as your proceed by venting them with jewelers glasses, keep exceptional females in a different tank seperated as they are the most hostile at small sizes and can potentiall kill your future champion males. The best fish will not always be the most aparent as the markings will change throughout the first 3 months of growth. You should monitor shape first, then markings, color, finage, and personality
Are you talking about the Olsen twins?

I think flowerhorns were hard and very expensive to breed but if you get to breed your own flowerhorn the feeling is satisfying and unexplainable.:)
