are Betta a good fish to have?

Answers:
I remember when they were called Chinese fighting fish. That's why they always put them in separate containers to sell. If you do plan to get 2 make sure you put them in a tank with a divider in it. They are aggressive fish who will bite off the other fishes fins (with no fins they can't swim, so they eventually die). I would recommend getting angelfish or even black moores. They are some cool and calm fish that work with any tank. Add some tadpoles in there and get the whole aquarium scene going there. Soon you'll have your own personal zoo to enjoy in the comfort of your own home. Good Luck.
Yes, as long as you dont put 2 of them together
yes,
but don't get the blue ones. the blue ones i had all commited suicide (like jumping out of the bowl), and the red one i had lived for three and a half years!
So aslong as you take care of them, they're good.
Plus they don't require alot of care. just clean water and food.
Yes, My daughter had one and it was very low maintenance.
Depends on your setup, and what it is that you want to do. Here is a writeup on Bettas. Hope it helps you decide!

a beta is a great fish to have! not much attention is needed for them and dispite what people say, you CAN put them in the same bowl or tank with other fish. just not other MALE beta fish.

such fish you can put in the same tank are.:

Plescostomus (algae eater)
red tip shark
bottom feeding catfish
braumie's (water roach)
neons
sword tails
female betas
(female betas get along with other female betas, but if they make eggs, the male will eat them when they hatch.)

you can put goldfish in with them, however, gold fish create more amonia and waste than other fish. that includes moores and koi.
That all depends on what you're looking for! Bettas pretty much have to be kept by themselves (some small, not colourful or large finned community fish are okay, but you're pretty limited), but they can also be kept in smaller tanks which is good if you didn't have room for a 10 gallon or larger anyways.

They're also hardy fish, so if you're forgetful or busy, or new to fish keeping, then they'e more likely to live then many other types of fish. They're more lazy though, too, especially if kept in very small bowls. In larger tanks (2-5+gallons) you're more likely to see them swimming around and looking beautiful, whereas they'll often just float around or sit on the bottom in a small tank.

You have to weigh the pros and cons, that's all. I have four bettas myself (all in seperate tanks, of course) but I also used to have a community tank (mollies, guppies, etc.) and also have a goldfish. All are/were pretty cool, but the community tank took the most work, but I also had a neat mix of fish in there.
Betta are wonderful fish to have! They have a lot of personality as far as fish go. They are able to be in a tank with other fish although you should watch them at first- sometimes even if they supposedly "get along" with a certain type, things go wrong and vice versa. I started out with just one and now have over 20. One of them even acts like a swimming puppy. (lol)
not bad dont put 2 of em 2gether
yeah, i had one for about 1 year. he was pretty cool and easy to take care of
they are great fish to have : they live a pretty long life if well takin care of. but dont put two males together. they will kill each other if you do.
infact i have ah betta and they live for about 4 yrs. but dont put them with any other fish or they`ll kill the other fish u put in with it!
Yep, cool, low maintainance pet, thats fun and interesting to watch.

I love all my fish thy make very good pets for some one who does not have time for a dog or a cat.
Well you can get a Betta fish but only one cause they will kill each other. and they can live a really long time if you take care of them.my friend had a Betta fish that she had for 10 years!
