are betta fish sensitive to light?

i just got two bettas (of course in seperate bowls) and it was light inside the petshop then dark outside (about 8:15 or so) and then dark for about 45 mins (the car ride) and then a shock of light for about (30 min) and now dark.does that have an effect on them? are they sensitive to that? can they really see light from dark?

another question is how do i get them to know where food is (^ top on bowl)?. . .
Answers:
Betta just like ourselves become shocked by the light if we are in the darkness for a long period of time. it is nothing to worry about.

and as far as feeding, i just put the food in the tank, and they usually see it right away, or they will hear it drop into the water. if they dont see/hear it, dont worry, when they come up to the top they will eventually see/smell it.
They should know where the food is.and I had a betta fish and it was fine in the light, but it wasn't directly in the lights path!
I doubt the light will bother them. They will smell the food the way all fish do.
the light really shouldn't bother them . my tanks all have light's on them . so at night i turn them off and in the am i turn then on . as for as the food they will know where it's at . i have 39 male betta's , and they alway's know where it's at .
They go to sleep just like everyone else, and their clue to do this is light dependent. So they will slow down, not hunt for food, and just hang out. No one is hunting them, the food (in a lake, river etc.) would not be visible. so they just hang. When the lights are on for awhile, they become more active, feed, etc. All fish should have light and dark cycles. otherwise your fish will not live as long. They are active all of the time instead of half of the time. With betas you want floating food- it is not as likely to be mised by the fish, they are top feeders, and it will not dirty the bowl as much. First, they smell it, that is how they find it.
